Seattle Slated to Gain 250 Wi-Fi Hot Spots

Cometa Networks plans to install 250 Wi-Fi hot spots in the Seattle metropolitan area, giving the city the nation's highest density of public Wi-Fi access.

The hot spots will be rolled out in McDonald's; Barnes & Noble bookstores; Tully's Coffee; several buildings owned by Seattle's Equity Office, including the Bank of America Tower; and two country clubs.

Cometa's network will be rolled out as part of Intel's "One Unwired Day" Sept. 25, when Cometa, Intel and several media companies will allow the public free use of the hot spots in a bid to win public support for the technology. AT&T Wireless will be the service provider for the Seattle launch, the companies announced.
